
PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND
Fred L. Holtz received his Doctorate from Hofstra University, with undergraduate work at SUNY Stony Brook. His Master's degree, also received from Hofstra, was granted With Distinction for outstanding academic, research, and clinical accomplishment. He was awarded membership in Phi Beta Kappa and Who's Who Among Mental Health Practitioners, and Who's Who In Mental Health on the Web. Dr. Holtz is the author of RELAX, a CD and book package with practical information on identifying and reducing stress and anxiety. His articles and workshops on coping with stress, and on improving communication in relationships have been featured on NEWS 12 and in NEWSDAY.
Dr. Holtz has extensive experience in individual and marital therapy, learning disabilities and psychological evaluation. Dr. Holtz has been in private practice for nearly 20 years, and has been a guest lecturer and workshop leader for businesses and civic organizations. In addition to his private practice, Dr. Holtz is adjunct Professor of Psychology at Suffolk Community College.
Dr. Holtz maintains professional relationships with qualified Physical and Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Specialists, Nutritionists, Academic Tutors, Social Workers, Psychiatrists, and medical facilities throughout Long Island should a referral be required.
LOCAL Dr. Holtz is a long time resident of Long Island, New York and is familiar with challenges particular to this area. His Melville office is conveniently located for many residents of both Nassau and Suffolk counties.
PERSONAL Therapy is provided in an atmosphere carefully designed to be private, comfortable, and personal. Convenient evening and weekend hours are available, and individually scheduled appointments are arranged to avoid waiting rooms and wasted time.
